Britomart Hotel

As the country’s first 5 Green Star hotel, The Hotel Britomart presented a unique and technically demanding project that pushed the boundaries of architectural precast.

Completed in mid-2019 with Bracewell Construction as the main contractor, the project featured 188 highly detailed precast panels — the first of their kind in the region.

Brick inserts

Innovation

Each panel was cast with 30mm genuine clay brick inserts, set into prefabricated liners to replicate traditional brickwork with the benefits of modern precast construction. The team overcame significant logistical and technical challenges, including blending bricks from multiple batches, handling delicate bricks that were prone to damage, and managing international delivery from Australia. Post-casting brick repair was required to achieve a flawless finish. Wilson Precast worked closely with project partners to develop and test full-scale mock-ups, ensuring seismic performance, weather-tightness, and aesthetic excellence. The final result is a distinctive facade that embodies craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation.
