Central Interceptor – Shafts

The Central Interceptor project included the manufacture of specialised precast segments for seven vertical shafts, distinct from the TBM tunnel lining segments.

These segments were designed for 5.5m and 6.6m diameter shafts, incorporating internal dividing walls and service shelves, with individual units weighing up to 28 tonnes.

The complexity of these components made moulding, manufacturing, and transport particularly challenging. Each unit was required to be water-tight, demanding exceptional attention to detail and quality control throughout production.
Wilson Precast met these challenges with precision, delivering high-performance components that met all structural and watertight specifications — a vital contribution to one of the country's largest infrastructure projects.
